I’ve never liked the idea of going for orientation camps and such. but this time, i was being dragged into this by a friend of mine. i was simple not in the mood for it. me and my fren, Darren… well… we were told initially via the phone that we were both in the same OG (orientation group). but that wasn’t the case when we reported at 1000hrs last Tuesday at Eusoff Hall. In the end, I was all alone in this OG called "INGO". everyone else were strangers to me. anw, that’s the whole point arh i guess; to make new friends.
On day one, things were pretty boring. running around the whole of NUS looking for clues and playing station games in order to solve this murder mystery. but there’s one part that i won’t forget. at one of the stations, the whole group was to pair up, one guy-one ger. each pair was suppose to play "scissors, paper, stone" and the winner will get to eat the chili while the loser will get to spin the "wheel of misfortune" to see how much of chili the winner need to eat. in the end, the guys purposely made themselves the winners for each of the "scissors, paper, stone" game so that the gers dun have to eat the chili… (u can call that being gentlemen). when came my turn, i had to eat 3 spoons of chili paste and 1 dried chili. trust me, the chili paste really tasted bad and almost made me vomit it out. yucks!
at night, we got to talk to our SP (Secret Pal). we were guided to meet our SP blindfolded. although i was suppose to be blindfolded, i just took a peek to see roughly how she looked like. haha… of cos i was hoping that my SP is a chiobu arh. but sadly, that was not the case. anw, we share quite alot of things in common. perhaps, we could be gd friends. we both played hockey in JC. plays in the concert band in secondary school. and both of us happen to be of the same race also.
The day ended with some skits performed by our counsellors as part of the official opening ceremony of the camp. some of the performances are rather interesting but some others are simply boring. the night ended rather late and i only got to sleep at abt 2.30am. worst, we had to wake up for breakfast at 7.30am. Less than 7hrs of sleep!
Day one was in short… boring. the impression that i got about my group is that everyone was not very enthusiastic, just like me. haha. the whole day, we had to do nothing much but learning the cheers that the councellors tried to teach us.
